The Church Ladies

We are blessed at our church to have a wonderful group of women that enjoy each others company. We have laughed together, cried together, eaten together, slept together, and even sang together. Do understand that many of the ladies have been together for years, but I am quite fortunate to be one of the newbies. I'm also the baby of the group at 51!

On the third Tuesday of the month, the group, along with anyone else from the church who is interested (we've had two men join in) goes into Richmond and volunteers at the Community Kitchen. The kitchen prepares the meals for Meals on Wheels and other groups. We never know what we'll be doing until we get there and we never know how many we will have participating until we get there. Yesterday we thought we were having 5 sets of hands and wound up with 8!

(I'm so glad I was taking pictures instead of being in them!)

We love our aprons, gloves, and hairnets -- what a fashion statement!  Some of us will dream of sliced bread and flying butter pats while a couple others may be terrorized by scoops of asparagus tips with butter! We work constantly for about 3 hours, but we do have fun while we're giving to others.

Today we even found out the Strawberry Fanta, good and cold, is pretty tasty.
